Blue, Gold and Pine!
Saturday was the Blue and Gold dinner and Pinewood Derby. It was also Brother Clarks' last activity with the scouts. So, Becki (the scout leader) had the boys make him a little going away/thank you gift.

After all the yummy food...it was DERBY TIME!

The boys all had a really great time. I don't know how many times they raced their cars. It was pretty entertaining though!

Two Peas in a Pod...or something like that!

It's crazy what can happen right under your feet. This was happening when I was standing right beside them, fixing dinner. I must have been lost in thought....or just subconsciously ignoring them.

13.1 Miles
June 27, 2009
(a day before my 29th Birthday)
Those who know me well, know that I don't like running. It has never been something that I had a desire to do. I am more content with things like pilates, yoga, turbo jam etc... What I don't like the most about running is feeling everything jiggle and bounce around with every slap of your shoes on the ground. Not a good boost to the ol' self esteem. Anyway, I have decided to give it a chance. My friends, Stacie and Heidi have been trying to convince me to do this for a long time. I was speaking with a friend of mine on the phone the other night and he got to talking about his and his wife's addiction to marathons. And in that conversation...there was a challenge. How could I ignore a challenge? It sparked something in me. I think it's just the right time for me to do this. It's almost like I have an overwhelming need to. I won't say that I don't know why I am doing this. I know exactly why.
So, let the training commence. I only have 4 months to pound this body into shape for a 1/2 marathon...13.1 miles (maybe a full marathon once I have some experience). I hope with everything in me that this will be an experience I won't regret, that my legs will not fail me and that I will not be one of the people on the side of the course throwing up!!!
WISH ME LUCK!

On Friday, we, along with Heidi and Andy, went up to Olympia for the Valentine's Day dance. We first stopped at La Tarasca for some dinner because we were all starving. Then we had time to kill before we wanted to arrive at the dance so we went to Target. I love Target. Anyway, I was on a mission to buy a couple of birthday presents. But it is so hard to resist stopping and looking...at anything. While in the handbag isle, Doug decided to do a little modeling. I warned him this would be going on the blog.
But to make him feel better, I am putting this picture (which, in my opinion is much worse). After having a fantastic time at the dance (I am being totally serious when I say that), we went to get some ice cream. Rob and Dawn and their friends, the Catron's accompanied us. I don't know why McDonald's was chosen, maybe because it was the only place open at 11 at night. Along with the ice cream, Doug ordered us some apple pies...
...and this is what happens when you eat those apple pies when you have braces!!!
I can't wait till March 6th!!!!
(I am well aware of how disgusting this is...my husband already informed me of that.)
The other night at dinner, Isabelle was being so cute and hugging Payton and saying..."Ahhhh."

Of course that all changed by the time I got my camera.

SCHOOL PARTIES!

On Thursday, the girls and I headed over to the school for Payton and Savannah's Valentine's Day parties.

Payton's party was first. As soon as I walked in the door, I was bombarded by all of his classmates. They were all quite taken by Jillian and Isabelle, and my braces. Some of them were asking me question after question about them, it was pretty funny and I was more than willing to answer!

The girls loved that everyone wanted to share their snacks with them.

In Savannah's class, we got there while Mr. Coyner was reading a story. They had all kinds of fun activities to do. After the story, they opened all their Valentines they had received. And then chowed down on all the goodies everyone had brought.

Savannah loves to share with Isabelle. She tried to read her a story while they ate.

Surprisingly, Jillian wasn't interested in all the goodies. She was perfectly content playing with all the cool toys that were in the classroom.

After eating, they had a little dance. Savannah chose Isabelle be her partner. And then, of course, since there was dancing...I had to join in.

We had so much fun!

In Honor of Valentine's Day!

(I stole this idea from Renee)

I LOVE...

(in no particular order, and not completed)

~

The smell of rain on a summer's day.

6 Oreo's and an ice cold glass of milk.

Isabelle dancing.

Jillian's mischievousness.

Savannah's Smile.

Payton's tender heart.

My husband's attention.

The sun...use to be a sun-worshiper until I moved to Washington. Now I just use the fake one.

Long, hot showers.

Laughing...

Weeping Willow trees.

Sappy, cheesy, Hallmark Channel movies.

Going to church dances.

Spending time with my amazing girlfriends.

New clothes.

Having a clean house. (not to be confused with 'cleaning the house')

People watching.

Listening to other people.

Having my back tickled.

My husband's humor, his smile, the way he takes care of me and our family.

Sleeping in after staying up way too late.

Waterfalls.

My own homemade chocolate chip cookies (that's not prideful, is it?)

Dancing around with the kids...but especially the two little ones while Payton and Savannah are at school.

The colors of spring and fall.

MUSIC...I love making it and listening to it.

My family...and that includes them all!! Even the dorky ones...just kidding.

Playing the games that I used to play and singing the songs that I used to sing when I was little, with my kids.

The moon, when it's at a cresent, and when it is full.

The stars.

MY DOUGLAS!!

Jillian's New Face Cream

I was just thinking the other day, that Jillian really hasn't given me much to blog about lately. Besides her normal 2 year old behavior, writing on walls, making messes...she has been kind of, well, boring. Until tonight.
We were sitting at the dinner table eating Taco's, trying to calm the tension that had risen in the house. I had given Jillian a bath earlier today, but she gets dirty so fast. I noticed that she had this coat of something white all over her face and in her hair. I didn't really think too much of it, she is messy all the time. Then we really started to wonder what it was. Doug said that it looked like frosting to him. No frosting in the house though. Savannah, then said, "I know what it is." She got down from the table and ran into the little bathroom. And came back with this...

Doug grabbed it from Savannah and brought it into me. I immediately started laughing. Come on now...really? How could you not laugh at that? Needless to say, the tension was gone. Doug said that he had caught her in the bathroom earlier and asked her what she was doing. She just said..."Playing."
After getting out a good giggle, we made sure that she hadn't ingested any of it and cleaned her up.
If she was having any facial itching problems before...they should be taken care of for a while!

Something Especially For You!

Here's how it works:
~

The first 5 people to respond to this post will get something made by me. My choice. For you!
~

This offer does have some restrictions and limitations.
~

1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make.
2. What I create will be just for you.
3. It will be done this year (anytime).
4. You have no clue what it is going to be. It may be a story. It may be poetry or an article on how to properly wash your face before a masque. I may draw or paint something. I may bake you something and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that's for sure.
5. I reserve the right to do something completely strange.
~~~~
The catch? Oh, the catch is that you must re-post this on your blog and offer the same thing to the first 5 people who do the same on their blog. The first 5 people to do so and leave a comment telling me that they did, win a FABULOUS homemade gift by me! Oh, and be sure to post a picture of what you win when you get it!!
We've Gone COUNTRY!!
On Friday we went to the church for our monthly ward social. It was a Valentine's one...with a western twist. It was a lot of fun. Complete with old fashioned pictures, wanted posters, hearty food, ropin' and dancin.'
Even during the clean-up, we couldn't help but dance.
Jillian absolutey loves Bishop Lambert. And I will say that he loves her too! How can you not?
Heidi snapped a few shots of Doug and I. We had a moment after everything was done, and the music was still playing, so of course...we were dancing.
Good times...good times!!
Another Day in Woodland
On Saturday, we headed down to Woodland for more 'vintage racing.' Doug and Payton had planned on going, but me tagging along was sort of last minute. I am so glad that I went.
Although the morning started off really cold, it warmed up and was a beautiful day. So, who cares that the kids were a little crabby from waking up at 6a.m, that they fought and cried and complained almost the entire time.... it was still a good day.
I am so glad that we have the fun-runner to hang out in, in between races. The kids just kind of play all over the place.
Payton...and his cheerleaders!
Oh...that's trouble!!
I actually got some good action shots this time around. I was proud of myself. But more proud of my boys. Doug took 1st in both of his races. Payton, well, he took 7th in both of his...out of 7!! But, he had a good time and didn't give up.
Good job, buddy!!
He is such a good big brother.
Like father...like son!!
This one is my favorite!!
"Leader of the Pack"
Way to go, baby! You rock!
The view on the way home was beautiful, so I tried to capture it.
It was a great day!
