Goodbye Grandma and Grandpa!
~
It's official! As of the 30th of September, Doug's parents are Elder and Sister Gifford. Most of their kids were there when they were set apart by President Hansen last Wednesday night. I think it was an incredible thing for their posterity to be witness too.
They left the next morning and came to say their goodbyes before their road trip began. It is very bitter-sweet to see them go. The older kids understand what is happening, but the two little ones just thought they were saying a normal goodbye.
Mom and Dad were able to attend 2 sessions of General Conference and are reporting to the MTC this morning. They will only be there a week, and then it's off to the Colorado Springs, Colorado Mission. We know they will be awesome missionaries!

Too bad it is not the Denver Colorado mission then we might have had a chance to see them.
I love that photo of them! :) What an exciting time for the whole family!! :)
That is awesome, so excited for all!
I'm so happy for them. My sister lives in Colorado Springs, I'll have to tell her to look out for them.
I will miss your parents, they are such a good example to all their many grandkids and I'm sure they will be missed by everyone in the Gifford clan!
My eyes water as I read your post. I guess I'm just amazed at their posterity and all the family. They are such wonderful people, great examples even to me. I pray for the missionaries every day. Now they can be apart of that prayer!
When you first wrote Doug's parents I was like wait a minute..what happened to "Mom and Dad"...but then later you say Mom and Dad..I love you.
Every time you say Mom and Dad..for a micro second I think of my parents and then I'm like no your mom and dad...and then I'm like duh..Doug's Mom and Dad..
isn't that funny!
